SystemSelect Design Tool for LEED v4.1 Green Building Designs

Architects and building designers need tools that help them understand how architectural glass and metal systems will perform thermally and visually in their projects. Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope’s SystemSelect™ online tool does exactly this.

Performance can be compared across a broad range of fenestration solutions early in the design phase of new projects. This allows the designer flexibility in considering several solutions before making the final decision for their project. The tool allows users to use Center of Glass (COG) metrics, or specify the exact make-up of their glass, along with their selected framing system to see overall performance. Solutions available include storefront, curtain wall and window wall products with monolithic and Insulating Glass Unit (IGU) in a variety of finishes and colors, among other variables. Users can select their region per the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) map to see pre-determined performance ranges and select products that meet those guidelines. Project designs can be saved for quick reference, adaption, and reuse on future designs to increase speed and efficiency in performance modeling and product selection.

With an increased focus on sustainable building designs and more rigorous codes and standards coming into effect across the country those needs have expanded. LEED supporting documentation such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), and other material health assessment documents can be downloaded for each project design. This documentation is necessary for a LEED AP (Accredited Professional) to determine the level of LEED v4.1 certification: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
