Oldcastle Glass® Chief Executive Elected to Serve on the Executive Board of the Design Futures Council

Santa Monica, CA – April 29, 2009 –Edwin B. (Ted) Hathaway, Chief Executive of Oldcastle Glass®, was recently elected to serve on the Executive Board of the Design Futures Council. The Council—an industry think-tank—is regarded as the preeminent interdisciplinary network of design and construction leaders who work together to advance the future of design, architecture, engineering, and building technology. Leveraging the leadership from a distinguished Executive Board, The Design Futures Council has been a resource for providing strategic insights on the future of design and construction through its publication DesignIntelligence.

The Council is an invaluable source for architects, designers, manufacturers and other building professionals throughout the world who help shape the future of our industry and environment,” said Ted Hathaway, who holds an MBA degree with honors from Columbia Business School. Hathaway started his career with Oldcastle, Inc. as Vice President, Development, was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Oldcastle Glass® in 1998 and was named Chief Executive Officer in 2000.

In 1990, Hathaway identified the need for and championed the formation of Oldcastle Glass® with the $100 million acquisition of HGP Industries, an architectural glass fabricator with $80M in sales and 11 operating locations. Over the next two decades, 30 bolt-on acquisitions advanced the business to North American leadership with sales in excess of $1.2 billion. Oldcastle Glass® currently has 68 locations in 26 states and four Canadian provinces, and employs more than 5,000 people. Ted is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the New York-based Museum of Arts and Design.
