Oldcastle Glass® Acquires Florida Laminated & Tempered Glass Company

Santa Monica, CA – June 5, 2006 — Oldcastle Glass® has acquired Miami-based Florida Laminated & Tempered Glass, a leading provider of laminated and tempered glass products in the Southern Florida regional construction market.

Florida Laminated & Tempered Glass occupies 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space and has state-of-the-art glass fabrication equipment. It will become a satellite operation of Oldcastle Glass® Miami, located less than two miles away.

“Driven by the implementation of building codes, hurricane-resistant glass is the fastest growing segment of the architectural glass market” said Ted Hathaway, CEO, Oldcastle Glass®. “This acquisition significantly increases our laminated glass and tempering capacity in Southern Florida and provides a strong manufacturing base for our signature hurricane-resistant product, StormGlass™.”

Oldcastle Glass®’ high-performance hurricane-resistant glass, StormGlass™, has been specifically developed to withstand high wind pressures for large building openings. The advanced interlayer is the thinnest of its kind available, providing architects and building contractors an unparalleled combination of aesthetics and performance when choosing glass that satisfies stringent hurricane-related building codes. The incremental capacity afforded by the acquisition supports Oldcastle Glass®’ objective of offering its customers the shortest lead times and highest quality architectural glass products in the industry.
