Introducing the Gamechanging Terra Swing™ Access Door Making Exteriors More Accessible

DALLAS – (July 8, 2021) – Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope^® (OBE), a leading global supplier of architectural glass, metal and hardware, announced today the launch of Terra Swing™ Access as an extension of its Terra Swing™ entrance product series. The game-changing terrace door is uniquely crafted to make the building exterior more accessible while offering uncompromising performance.

“Recognizing the need for a high-performing door with accessible features, we built on the design of our popular, patented Terra Swing products focusing on enhancements in key areas,” said Phil Benes, Product Designer at OBE. “Our team put an emphasis on designing the door to excel in both water and thermal performance while ensuring compliant features come standard.”

The new Terra Swing™ Access terrace door is designed with industry-leading compliance to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. It features an integral 10″ kick rail, five pounds or less operating force per American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 513 and a small 1/2″ threshold for easy access to outdoor spaces.

“Our building community now has the compliance they need and the performance they want in a terrace door that allows them to further add to a project’s sustainability goals, ensuring equal access to balconies and terraces,” added Benes.

Beyond performance, the door is designed for simplified installation by sitting directly on the floor so concrete notching is not required to accommodate the threshold during installation, helping control lead times and costs. The low 1/2” threshold also features field-installed exterior trim that allows for a continuous exterior perimeter seal without relying on a blind seal.

Terra Swing™ Access is available in OBE’s thermal and visual performance modeling tool, SystemSelect^TM so architects and glazing contractors can quickly view performance for entire glass and metal systems as well as download specs in seconds.
